Welcome to the National Business Crime Conference Nov 2022

Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the National Business Crime Solution, our members, and our partners we warmly welcome you to our November 2022 National Business Crime Conference. The largest ‘business for business’ crime conference in the UK held at the fantastic Trent Vineyard Conference Centre.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you, from retailers through vendors to Business Improvement Districts, Shopping Centres and BCRPs. Our collaborative efforts have a real impact on business crime across our country, from National and International travelling offenders and organised criminality to local prolific and persistent offenders. Our collaborative work ensures a collective and strategic approach to tackling business crime.

This conference provides an opportunity to network with peers, discuss the latest sector updates and to see first-hand some of the most innovative solutions provided by our exceptional Associate Members, without whom we would simply not be able to supply our critical services. It also gives us an opportunity to update you on our progress towards your vision, articulated by our Representative Member Group on your behalf.

We have an exciting program for you, as always, the agenda has been largely proposed by your representatives. First, a networking breakfast and good opportunity to catch up with peers, followed by a welcome from our NBCS Chairman, Tim Edwards. I will then update you on some of the projects we have in flight and their progress against current objectives, including a significant update on the NBCS Foundation Charity. After giving you the chance to tell us your thoughts through interactive polls, we will take a new look at Claims Detect Online and some of the breakthrough features we believe will change the face of claims fraud and GLIT forever. Christopher Buckingham will then update us on Action Fraud and the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau before the mid-morning networking break and refreshments.

After refreshments we will hear the latest updates from Patrick Holdaway and the NBCC before considering the impact on our front-line security teams, often our first line of defence on the ground. We will then hear from Stephen Teatum, Head of Group Loss Prevention at NEXT with some interesting insights and a call to action regarding supply chain risk. After lunch, we will break into our round table discussions where we will share insights into some of our biggest collective challenges before summarising at the end of the day and hopefully leaving you with some things to ponder within your own organisations.

It always takes a team effort to deliver a conference of this size and type, to that end I would like to thank the brilliant team at Trent Vineyard for supporting the set up and the days workings. I would also like to thank our presenters and round table chairs. A special thanks to all our Associate Members for making today’s event possible and to the NBCS Board of Directors and the Representative Members Group for your continued support…. and patience.

Finally, I hope you enjoy your day with us, exchange ideas and leave the day with at least one positive outcome which will deliver genuine benefits to your operation.

Thank you.
